Lupus is described as an inflammatory disease caused when the immune system attacks its own tissues. Lupus is an autoimmune disease that can affect the joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs. Symptoms vary but can include fatigue, joint pain, rash and fever. Lupus is quite common in Ghana but with low awareness. This unfortunately includes health care providers and workers. As a result, victims are misdiagnosed. The Lupus Awareness Campaign therefore aims at Making Lupus Visible.
